Welcome to Bramber First School, Worthing. We are delighted to be able to tell you a little about our school.

At Bramber First School children come first. We place great importance on children’s happiness at school and on meeting their individual needs, as we know that it is only by being happy, secure and confident that they will work hard and learn.

We want children to enjoy making new discoveries, to become secure enough to attempt new challenges and to develop their potential in all areas of school life to the full.

We have a warm, friendly, family atmosphere at the school which is due in part to the close links forged between children across classes, and by staff, parents and governors working closely together with a commitment to the children’s well being and learning.

While the prospectus will help you find out more about us, I do recommend a visit so that you can fully appreciate the atmosphere, learning environment and high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour at our school

.

Our school was judged to be outstanding in our recent Ofsted inspection

Our Aims
• For each child to achieve their best in a spirit of confidence.
• To provide appropriate challenge and support to develop individual potential spiritually, socially, morally and academically.
• For all members of the school community to be valued and all achievements celebrated.
• For each child to develop knowledge and understanding of the World, building on previous learning, as they investigate the familiar environment and then the wider world
• For each child to develop high standards of behaviour. To promote respect for others in our school community, developing personal characteristics of self-discipline, honesty, courtesy, independence and a sense of responsibility for themselves and others.
• For each child to develop confidence and self-esteem, with positive attitudes to learning.
• For each child to have access to a broad and balanced curriculum within a learning environment that is happy, stimulating, well ordered and calm.
• To work in partnership with parents in helping each child to feel happy and secure within the school setting.
• We aim to foster a sense of belonging to the school community by establishing an effective working partnership between the Governing Body, the school staff, our parents and pupils.

In all that we offer children both in and outside of school, our aim is to develop attitudes important throughout life – the ability to work independently and alongside others. We know that children’s self esteem and confidence grow when high value is placed on their work and learning. As a school we celebrate children’s achievements though displays and special assemblies. We encourage all of our children to discuss and evaluate their work and to take pride in the topic books that they produce each term.
