Summer Fair July 2010

There were lots of games and stalls at the fair and the children gave displays of karate, dancing and football

The police and fire service brought vehicles along and the children enjoyed explorign the fire enghine.

The Deputy Mayor and her consort came and officially opened our Summer Faior.
A big thank you toeveryone for all their hard work and amking the summer fair such a success.

Worthing Children's Parade 2010

Our school took part in the Worthing Children's Parade. We made a giant Rainbow Fish - here it is in the school hall just waiting for the finishing touches.

The children carried individual fish made of willow withies and covered in tissue paper and lots of glitter and shiny bits! We practised walking with our fish at school!

The parade started in Beach House park and went along the seafront and through the town to Steyne Gardens.

Lots of schools took part and it was great fun!

Many thanks to all the parents who helped make our big rainbow fish and all the small ones; and to those who helped on the day.

Malagiri School Project, Nepal
Some of our children took part in The Show at the Pavilion to help to raise money to build a school in Nepal. The village is called Malagiri. There has been a general strike in Nepal which has held up the building but they hope to start again soon. Many of the materials come from India which makes building slow and the terrain is very difficult as you can see from the photographs.

The school is desperately needed because otherwise small children cannot go to school because they are a long way away. This also prevents their parents from working, or stops the older children being able to go to school because they have to look after younger siblings.

We have received a copy of a thank you email from Pema Dorjee, a Tibetan Bhuddist monk, who is the founder of the project.

Dancetime 2010

Some of our Year 3 children took part in Dancetime 2010 at the Pavilion Theatre. Their dance was called "The Snow Dragon" and was based on a book they will be studying in school. It also fitted in with this term's topic on "Fire and Ice".

The children had a wonderful time and it was very exciting to perform in a proper theatre. Well done to Miss Foggett and all the children.

World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day we had a visit from the Open Box Theatre Company who performed stories for the whole school. It was great fun!

Penny Farthing Visit

A gentleman came to school with his penny farthing bicycle. He showed it to the children and rode it round the playground. It looked very difficult!

After the visit the children did these lovely pencil drawings of the penny-farthing bicycle and wrote that it was 100 years old.
